Secretary of State of Arts and Culture participates in the Melanesia Festival

Secretary of State of Arts and Culture, Dr. Maria Isabel de Jesus Ximenes, on October 27, 2015, traveled with her delegation to Kupang Indonesia to participate in the Melanesia Festival, held on October 28 - 30, 2015.
On October 28, 2015, SEAC, Dr. Maria Isabel de Jesus Ximenes, met with the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr.Anis Rasyid Baswedan to talk about cooperation in the area of Art and Culture. After the meeting with the Minister of Education and Culture, SEAC with the Timor-Leste delegation participated in the Melanesia Festival at the Swiss-Berlin Hotel.
Opening of the festival was by the Minister of Education and Culture Indonesia, Dr.Anis Rasyid Baswedan, and on this occasion of the Festival there was also a launching of the book entitled: "Dispora Malanesia in Nusantara".
Timor-Leste, represented by Secretary of State of Arts and Culture, Dr. Maria Isabel de Jesus Ximenes, in her address, said: "It was with great honor and joy that I accepted the invitation from your part of HE Minister of Education and Culture from Indonesia to be here today at the Melanesian Culture Festival. A cultural and artistic event that brings together diverse identities that share almost the same history and cultural characteristic of the Melanesian people.
Timor-Leste, is a new nation of the millennium, which is based on a diverse cultural power. There are cultural wealth scattered throughout the national territory. A Timorese culture alive and rich in colors, rhythms, languages, movements, flavors, sounds, and personal traits. These characteristics differ from the other people and that with them we will proudly affirm our identity at the top of the world.
At the end of the SEAC Address, she appealed to the participants participating in the Melanesian Festival "to all present to continue to keep alive the spirit of preservation of our history and cultural characteristics of Melanesian people and to expand these cultural and artistic richness beyond the horizon.
